The heavier the traffic, the more strenuous it is for the driver. But with the right distance to the vehicle in front he/she has room to relax even in the heaviest traffic.
You can now "enjoy" the right distance, automatically: With the ACC driver-assistance system from Bosch you automatically maintain the appropriate distance to the vehicle in front. And this equates to stress-free, relaxed driving.
ACC, the intelligent Cruise Control from Bosch monitors the area in front of the vehicle. By comparing the strengths of the reflected signals (detection), ACC calculates the distance to preceding vehicles and ascertains the direction in which they are travelling.
As soon as ACC detects a slower preceding vehicle in the same lane, it adapts speed to maintain the spacing to the other vehicle at the distance set by the driver. This is accomplished by ACC either applying the brakes or reducing the drive torque. In curves too, ACC can detect which preceding vehicle is decisive for cruise-control operation.
The latest generation, the so called ACCplus, also comes into effect at speeds below 30 km/h (20 mph) and remains active until the vehicle stops. This system can maintain the safety distance to the preceding vehicle even at very low speeds, for instance at walking speed. It is the first system which applies the brakes of its own accord, stops the vehicle, and moves off again automatically after the driver has approved. This lowers the stress in very heavy traffic, and in traffic jams too.
