A modern vehicle comes equipped with many individual control units and sensors for safety, agility and comfort functions. With new and improved vehicle functions, the number of control units and the complexity of vehicle electronics continue to increase. Up to now, the inertial sensors of the Electronic Stability Program ESP® have been installed in a separate sensor cluster. Bosch offers three concepts of the electric/electronic architecture (E/E architecture) to permit omission of this separate sensor cluster and to reduce overall complexity, fitting space requirements and costs.
- Integration of the inertial sensors in the ESP® control unit: Particularly suitable for vehicles in which ESP® is offered as an option.
- AB plus – integration of the inertial sensors in the airbag control unit:
Particularly suitable for vehicles in which airbags and ESP® are standard equipment. - Domain Control Unit – Integration of the inertial and crash sensors in a central domain control unit:
Particularly suitable if a large number of safety and comfort functions have to be integrated, ideally in vehicles in the upper middle class to luxury class.
